11th-Jun-2008 06:04 pm - First paycheck!
I got my first paycheck today!  Yay!
Of course parts of it goes to taxes and state/federal fees, but at least I get to keep 75% of it. That will be enough to pay for my month's rent and utilities, with enough to spare for food.

I'm HAPPY!!!! (for the time being)
3rd-Jun-2008 10:15 am - Long time no see
It's been so long since I updated this. Yes I'm still here, slowly rotting away.

New things that happened:
People have graduated and I'm going to miss them. Really miss them. Great buddies and classmates.
I am now interning, and I am bored at the moment since I pretty much finished my work and my manager isn't in town now.
I will be starting my last year in college soon. Meaning I have to think of my senior project, think about graduate school, think about getting job, graduate, and deal with family hounding on my post-graduate path.
I am emotionally unstable no matter how composed I look, just because of some medical condition, along with stress and anxiety, [don't know how that happened], and my mind replaying memories that just depresses me.
30th-Jan-2008 05:36 pm - It's been a while
It has been a long while since I wrote anything here. Guess I'll start with something that I can remember.
Some time in November 10, I went to Stanford University for ICPC programming contest. 5 hours of pure programming with 50+ groups of 3 all over North America (Of course, not all were stationed in the campus). No, we did not win because British Columbia and Standford always become one of the top 3 teams.

I remember celebrating the end of the semester with some of the graduating/departing CS seniors/students on a December Friday night. Pizza was great and we got to interact with some CS/CE freshmen. Some of us went to watch a movie...no more I Legend, so watched Enchanted (funny, those are NY thespians appearing from the sewer, talking chipmunk, reversed roles).

Went home for winter break and my brother went snowboarding...(I wanted to go and try it once), got a used mp3 player for cheap, and celebrated my birthday. I went out with my friend,pyro_aku, to Japantown, bought some manga and some Dango at the supermarket. Crazy thing happened there when we were discussing about the Dango. We saw Saiunkoku Monogatari and remembered where Ryuuki was eating Dango with Shuuei. They were discussing who the first dango, middle, and last dango on the stick to be eaten. Shuuei was the first dango on top, and Ryuuki ate all the top ones from each stick in anger. When we were in the store and talking, Shuuei's name came out in our little Japanese conversation (I can't remember the entire conversation that we had, but it was pretty embarrassing) and this little grandma went "Shuuei, は何ですか?" Haha~that was nice!

Went back to school for a new semester. Yay for graphics and other course~! (I think...)
6th-Oct-2007 02:22 pm - EEEP...
I'm back at home since my grandparents and mom wanted me back for Columbus Day, sorry I have class then but I can be back on Friday, to celebrate the birth of my cousin's daughter.
Well, my brother got into a car accident and wrecked his car, not the other person's, no one was hurt, and this all happened on Thursday night...good thing I canceled the trip with him or I wouldn't have left school at all. Bad luck: I'm miles away from school so that I can have a big dinner celebration centering on the birth, but my ride back to school is out of commission, and the uncles that I usually call for a lift are pretty much busy (with whatever they do from morning to night). Must find some way to get back to school, either early/late Sunday or very early Monday.
3rd-Aug-2007 06:03 pm - Mmmm...pie
Made a Banana Cream Pie today. All because the recipe that my brother used the previous night, had yielded something horrible looking.
So far, the consistency looks about right, thick and gooey. The color is off since I substituted soy milk for regular milk, so it's a bit on the tan-colored side.

For ingredients/instructions and MY final resultCollapse )
5th-Jul-2007 10:01 pm - Long time for an update
Yesterday was July 4th, Independence Day for America from England, so I "celebrated" by going to Six Flags with my aunt, uncle, young cousin and his friend. It was six years ago since I last went to an amusement park, especially Six Flags Marine World (renamed to Discovery Kingdom). One thing that got to me is how the people pronounced "Shouka" as "Shoe-ka", yes, the name of the stadium is Shoe-ka, as well as the name of the Killer Whale. Of course lots of things changed there, but the one thing that stayed the same; is my uneasiness with roller-coasters and heights. I remembered why I don't like them, and I can partially pinpoint my unease with those; it's the gravitational force and the centripetal force of the rides. Those forces really pull at my stomach and rattle my brain (maybe the blood-flow to it). Anyways, after baking in the sun, we drove back to San Francisco, the little children were babbling about Maple Story and Naruto-related things while I stayed still and awake with my dark sunglasses covering my eyes. That did not quiet them down, I just kept getting glances from cousin's little friend~Randy. I swear, when my aunt and uncle calls his name, it sounds like Mandy, especially when it was the first time meeting him.

After arriving back to the city of fog, we went to Randy's house for the Asian(Chinese)-style potluck. All those people that I don't know, yet when it came to dinner, they were all very friendly. Most of them were a laugh riot that kept making me feel slightly uncomfortable at times by announcing my existence to everyone, who acknowledged my existence simultaneously. And they made me feel comfortable by picking on the very loud and talkative guy there. They got into a discussion about hand-me-downs, which the older sibling would pass their small clothes to the younger sibling. And since the guy was the fifth child, after four girls, the people around him believed him to have worn his sisters' clothes at one point. That went on for a while where he denies that he ever worn his sisters' clothes or being forced into them, due to the fact of having a Chinese mother who finally had a son after four daughters(in China at the time). Found out that some people graduated from UC Davis, one had probably graduated with my brother but who knows. Man, I never knew there would be that many eccentric Chinese people in one area, especially seeing them like that on the first meeting.

***Other very old news:
-went and saw brother's college graduation ceremony, I remember why I hate attending those long and boring gatherings. At least it wasn't the commencement ceremony like the one at Stanford: out in the sun in some kind of outdoor stadium.
-bought a skirt out of my own free will and liked it (shock)
-bought sandals that I like, will return it due to finding nicer ones that mom bought for me
-went to friend's b-day party
